My artifact is electronic dictionary. These days, only a few people use this device due to the presence of smart phones. However, when I first came to America, it helped me a lot. There were so many english words unfamiliar to me.
When my teacher spoke a word that I did not know, I looked it up on this device instead of interrupting lecture. When a new word showed up in readings, I used it again. I always wrote the new words that I learned on the note everyday and memorized them before I go to sleep.
Thanks to that consistent habit, the amount of use of the device and time I spend on homework was quickly shortened.
From the Junior summer, when I prepared for SAT exam, this device helped me again memorizing tons of difficult words. This device made my studying much more efficient. Thanks to it and my diligent studying, I only got two wrong answers in sentence completion of reading section in real SAT exam.
Electronic dictionary became obsolete when my parents bought me my first smartphone. Still, it is a meaningful device that helped me a lot during my high school years in America.
